In a
resounding view, too little has been written on table tennis psychology in
the country and Africa. Despite coaches and players often mentioning the
importance of the “mental side of the game”, mental skills training remains
largely unused in our clubs, offices and coaching sessions.
With this indication and other views in set,The safety Communications Consult brought about the CEO Table Tennis Competition. Mr. Eric
Apedo who is the project director of the Safety Communication Consult in a debriefing on
why the initiative and way forward, said, “the motive is to bring back decision makers who
are lovers of the game to promote it among their level in the country and the
diaspora”. He
further stressed it was to Create a (corporate social responsibility) CSR
support to build ultramodern courts in our district and to make it popular
among decision makers and top management in corporate Ghana.”
Former Minister of Trade and Industry - Dr. Ekow Spio-Garbrah whole
hearted endorsed the initiative and encouraged CEO's, business heads and those
in high positions who normally like to exercise, love the game or just don’t
have the time to do to take the opportunity to do so with the assurance
that it would be a time to unwind network and re-live the feel of competition
among peers and new friends.
Creating
and maintaining a positive attitude, in relation to table tennis, includes
striving for excellence and constant improvement, enjoying the opportunity to
compete and test your skills, learning from successes and failures, having
respect for other players, and officials. Thus, keeping a healthy balance
between table tennis and the rest of your life.
As a
result The Safety Communications Consult sees table tennis as not only exercise
but one that has been part of our Ghanaian culture over the years which has a
formidable place in the world as a major sport and Olympic game as well.
