Top Africa Ghana Music Awards formerly called ‘Top Naija Awards’ over the weekend had their first edition in Ghana at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) Hall.
This award scheme has been running for eight years in Nigeria and this year the management has decided to extend it to other African countries and Ghana happens to be the very first to host it.
According to the ‘Country Director’ of the brand to Ghana Mr. Trovel Kumi Addo; “hard work and the level of his competency has won this great slot for Ghana, and He promised to maintain that standard in the organization to win more in the subsequent years”
The event started at 7 pm with the RED CARPET which was hosted by Richard Van Helsings and was live on the TOPAFRICAMUSIC Instagram page. Richard was able to pull more crowds with his skill from 100 viewers to 2,000 (2k) viewers.
The two Master of Ceremony (MCs) of the night Angebell and Nestle were very fantastic and professional in their duties. They kept the hall interesting with their funny jokes.
The main event and the awarding started at 8 pm with some music interlude from the mainstream musicians.
The scheme has 26 categories; Best EP of the year, Best Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the year, Best Hip/Hop Artiste of the years, and the supreme winner of the night, etc.
There was a classic performance from TILLY — promising Reggae/Dancehall female Artiste who put the patrons on their feet for 30 minutes. She was tipped as the best performer of the night.
Mr. Andy Tetteh, Actor, Mr. Bernard Nii Yartey, CEO of Global Facelift, Teflon Flexx, Apogeemuzik, and Bhadext Cona.
Top Africa Ghana Music Awards has put up a strategy for all the nominees are to monitor their votes on the platform. This transparency system made it possible to have a successful event.
One interesting thing the scheme did was; any artist or nominee whose votes attain 5000 and above stands a chance of winning a trip to Dubai and ‘Daily Bread’ emerged as the winner.
The event was climaxed by Teflon Flexx — One of the Northern region big exploits, who climbed on the stage with a song titled ‘Not even shouting’. He also performed ‘Maame Yaa’ featuring Medikal, and his breakthrough song ‘Madina’. His energetic performance moved the stated closing time of the event to an extra one hour.Lots of great winners were awarded on the night including OHEMAA WINNA for the best RNB song of the year
