The maiden edition of the Table Tennis Business Strategy Conference on the World Table Tennis Day came on the 6th April, 2022 at the Tang Palace hotel in Accra.

 



The event, a Safety Communication Consult in partnership with Decathlon and the International Table Tennis Foundation (ITTF)  was highly endorsed by all that came through on the day. The event began with an opening prayer from the MC on the day Rev.Kojo Ackaah -Kwarteng. 

Mr. Eric Apedo who is the project director of the Safety Communication Consult in a debriefing in his opening remarks stressed on why the initiative (Table Tennis Competition🏓🏓🏓) and more on why the  day was important to commemorate the World Table Tennis day.



World Table Tennis Day (WTTD) is celebrated annually on April 6 since 2015, also marking the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. It is the day to celebrate table tennis, as well as the universality and social inclusiveness the sport represents.

In line with the biennial celebration of the 50th anniversary of Ping Pong Diplomacy, WTTD 2022 focuses on using table tennis for peace-making and conflict resolutions. Sparked by the original event in the Japanese city of Nagoya in 1971, WTTD 2022 seeks to create friendships and build bridges between conflicted parties on both, the state and grassroots level.

MADAM JANET SANIKUMA – a representative for Mr. George Amoh ( Executive Secretary  for the National Peace Council – NPC) was on hand to give special remarks stating   why table tennis  and peace should be a key stake in the society and encourage stakeholders to take it up as well .



MR. GODWIN KOUWOADAN -PROGRAMMES MANAGER - WEST AFRICA CENTER FOR PEACE STUDIES in his delivery gave a brief background to events in the year 1998 in Burkina Faso, where there was no sports or games talk less table tennis. “One of the most important things is human life “he emphasized. Currently peace in West Africa and Africa in general is facing a lot of threat and thus countries are experiencing war resulting in people running for dear life and safety .

                                    

Without peace ,no games  can take place. Table tennis was one key instrument also used to extend peace. Sports on its own has a unique attribute does not  discriminate.

“The sources that can be used to promote peace are rather limited with less or no funding so sports serves as a key role in operating peace. It’s important for us to protect our peace to reduce tension.”he eneded

Mr. Courage Nanevie – Westchester Former National player for Table Tennis club in New York in his delivery  stated the health benefits of sports and tennis in general as one;

Weight loss and burning of calories etc.

 

The MC on the day Rev.Kojo Ackaah -Kwarteng. hinted a further key insight on table tennis and its business strategy in using the SWOT strategy ,meaning through sports and table tennis you can identify strengths ,re-strategize  weakness ,attain opportunities to overtake competition an limit threats in playing that might result in losing. These are very keen variable in every business setup.These were just  a hand full of business strategic approached derived from Mr. Courage's delivery.

Questions and Answers sections where opened to all present and were all  further to


encourage Ghanaians and corporate managers to register for the follow up editions and actively get involved in order to develop their network levels and keep shape. He revealed that the event is open to all persons of different categories and levels in the private and public employment sectors.The 3rd edition CEOS Table Tennis Competition is slated for  23rd April,2022.
