The Golden Image Awards (GIA) ,one of Liberia’s come to stay awards was founded in September 2010, with the first edition held in July 2011. It serves   as a unique platform for the country Liberia to recognize individuals and organizations alike plus countries who went although for Development, Investment, Leadership, Achievers, Human Rights Peace & Security Arts & Culture, Health, Advocacy, Humanity, Empowerment, Democracy, and Social Justice for all in the world, especially since the end of the (fourteen)14-years civil crisis in Liberia. The Award is also intended to recognize and reward Leaders and Philanthropists who have empowered and invest one way or the other to support Liberia attain its current status.



The Golden Image Award Platform provides a unique opportunity to those who have sacrificed and contributed to building a peaceful future generation – leaders whose examples can be applied as practical ways to build and achieve positive legacies, promote and encourage healthy life, quality education, effective leadership, and democratic processes either in Liberia or around the World.

 

This was key to the celebration and recognition of this year’s bicentennial edition of the event and its honorees . The event was held in Liberia ,Monrovia (Monrovia City Hall) from the 21st to the 23rd of July 2022.

The event was held on Thursday night with the special guest been His Excellency Dr. George Manneh Weah (President of Liberia) who doubles as the convener of the Award. the commander in chief of the Armed forces of Liberia’




Respectfully is His Excellency Dr. George Manneh Weah recognized as a true Legend, a Leading Promoter of Peace, a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF, Africa, Europe, & World Best  football player. He is also  a  recipient of the Golden Image Award 2011’.

In his key note delivery on the night he applauded all and sundry that were either present or supported in one way or the other to this prestigious event. His keen admiration for the event and support was highly appreciated and endorsed by all including his strong stand for peace.

“The image of the Golden Image Award (GIA) is Her Excellency Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, former President of the Republic of Liberia. Madam Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf was Africa’s first female democratically elected Head of State,  she was vetted amongst 6 women around the world and won for her bold and courageous role played in ensuring that the rights of women are respected on the continent of Africa and the World at large.”

“everyone wants to be you but no one can be you” he added was a profound statement that greased a more or less portion of praise to the visionary behind the award in the person of Ambassador Juli Endee (Visionary/Founder and Event Planner} of the Golden Image Award.






She is the Culture Ambassador and Traditional Queen of the Republic of Liberia, Goodwill Ambassador for Children and an Advocate for Peace, healthy life and women’s rights, she is also the Executive Director of the Liberia Crusaders for peace- a National non-governmental organization with over 25 years' experience and expertise in social mobilization, community engagement and communication for development (C4D)

She is also a singer ,a dancer and cultural advocate.



“ Indeed, Ambassador Endee is one of the few illustrious daughters of Liberia. She is a luminary example of someone who has a cultural and traditional background, a typical Liberian virtue she has sacrificed to promote both nationally and internationally, “he added.

 

The awards were presented  to individuals who have made significant impact in society, dating from 2020 to 2022.

Some of the recipients are as follows:

The late Mother Annie Nushann of Totota, Bong County, was awarded an Icon of Peace Award, while Protocol Officer Paywala Janyan was given the LEADERSHIP/ACHIEVERS AWARD.

Public Works Minister Ruth Coker-Collins and the Director of the National Fisheries Authority, Emma Glasco, were also awarded for their OUTSTANDING WORK IN GOVERNMENT.

Businessman Jeety, Gospel Musician Ablaco Gaye, Commerce Minister Marwein Diggs were among others honoured.










Ambassador Julie Endee   further on the night urged Liberians to cultivate a sense of portraying positive image of the country. According to Ambassador Endee, President Weah is a reliable and dependable leader through whose support this year’s award program was possible, despite the challenges and urged all to follow suite.

She shared joy and happiness for the event night success and bravely belives its replica would be toppled come next year.

 





 

Special presentation by the Liberia Culture Ambassador, Queen Juli Endee was made  to the representative of Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the Bicentennial Edition of the Golden Image Award from Morocco and the United States of America at the Liberia Crusaders for Peace office.
