The National Democratic Congress (NDC) party representative and former president of Ghana Former President John Dramani Mahama has indicated that they (NDC) will be very vigilant at the polling stations during the next general elections come  2024.

This was one of the key issues on discussion on Atinka TV’s morning show Ghana Nie with the host EKOURBA GYASI SIMPREMU. On Tuesday (September 7, 2021), in a radio interview at Akina FM (in Techiman in the Bono East Region) Mr. John Dramani Mahama said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has learnt its lessons from the 2020 elections and that the elections "will be won or lost at the polling station” he added.

A live in call session which saw Nana Obiri Boahene who is  the Deputy General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP)- said “he has made a statement and depends on individual ideologies on it ,fair is foul and foul is fair” as he quoted William Shakespeare to further back his point.

It is alleged that the NPP is coming in head strong at polling stations with the incursion that there were no ill premise on the statement or whatsoever as inquired by Ekourba on the panel. Mahama said “in the year 2020 he has learnt his lesson and that it would be a do or die at the polling station” for which he was been bold enough to say and hence was at no fault to say as made reference to by Nana Obiri Boahene.

The deputy secretary felt this alleged statement comes to be an awakening call for them to also be in right preparations for any outcome or so to speak.

Ekourba made a profounding statement that, could it allegedly be said that during the 2024 elections, no matter the positives or negatives  are they  that Ghanaians are keen on some various alleged comments and statements and when especially it comes to elections as we inevitably would face in the year 2024. It is on these few reasons why it’s felt to have a proper understanding of some matters and key stakeholders intention thereof. Responding to that the deputy secretary said” that then he believes the former president could have emphasized better on the statement he made by choosing more refined words or giving a sounding explanation to it “

Mahama said again the NDC will not wait till the collation stage or wait for court process, "at the polling station and collation center, we will do everything to make sure the elections are free, fair and transparent.

At the polling station. "it will be do or die". Clarifying that he was not referring to "all die be die", he restated that it will be "do or die. The right thing must be done."

To conclude Ekourba stressed with his panel that he feels that necessary securities and protocols should be put in place to ensure safe and smooth running elections  come 2024.Furtrhermore all key parties heads or stakeholders and the National Peace Council  of Ghana should fine tune some of  these  alleged statements and actions and ensure a safer better Ghana.
