National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for South Dayi, Dafeamekpor Rockson-Nelson, filed a law suit at the High Court demanding that the contractual agreement between the government of Ghana and Adjaye Associates be terminated.

He made a statement that in contracting Adjaye and Associates, ignored the procurement processes laid down by law, in particular, the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663)”.

“At no point was there an open call for bids from other members of the Chartered Institute of Architects despite sending out announcements for competitive bids” and that government “could only procure services for a contract by inviting a proposal or price quotation from a single supplier or contractor where the conditions under section 40 of the Public Procurement Act, 2003 (Act 663) have been met,” the MP’s statement of claim noted.

It could be remembered not too long ago that recent happenings with a doctor making COVID-19 results deliveries to individuals who came from outside the country was attacked at the Mplaza hotel Accra.

The Host EKOURBA GYASI SIMPREMU of Atinka TV’s morning show Ghana Nie with his panel believed that this was a breach of peace and that the patients charter ( which requires Healthcare facilities are required to provide for and respect the rights and responsibilities of patients/clients, families, health workers and other health care providers.) was brought to question here.

It’s the responsibilities of health professionals to provide answers and explanations to patients as and when asked and prior to or during treatment. “It’s as if the covid-19 has been taken advantage of to pave way for some of these irregularities” he added. People are so afraid to ask the doctors or health personnel  questions about sickness/illness and how to even go about medications amidst other questions ( bringing agitations) or is there a personal gain? He questioned.

This has raised lots of questions and I believe it is about time to communicate the basis of some of actions we take.

This was one of the few concerns that poised the question and alleged statement made by Hon. Dafeamekpor that the agenda 111 contracts awarded did not go through proper processes.

We do recount that The Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has responded to critics of government’s agenda 111 project saying all contracts associated with the project were legally awarded. In response to this, the Minister for Information Kojo Oppong Nkrumah in a press briefing on Sunday, September 5, 2021, said, due diligence was done in awarding the contracts.

“We have noticed deliberate politically -motivated claims of impropriety being cooked up against the project. This includes a recent claim by the MP for North Dayi that the project was illegally awarded.” He said

Hon. John Aobina Abbam Aboah Sanie (MP for MPOHOR Constituency, Western Region) also on the panel said what is also interesting to know about the 1D1F has been brought to reach all individuals across board but not centered to just one area for all to have a share and curb unemployment.

He made a statement that The 1D1F is a private partnership with the government where as you come with a vision then for which upon review  its put in action. He believes that 1D1F has very clean strong motives that should be seen as such such while also strongly asks all patrons and sundry to give full support to it.
